Featherweight Sodiq Yusuff will no longer meet Edson Barboza on October 10.

It seems that a fun featherweight battle between two talented strikers will no longer happen on October 10.

Per Combate’s report, Sodiq Yusuff was forced out of his bout against Edson Barboza due to undisclosed reasons. However, the Brazilian could still remain on the card as the UFC might be trying to fit Makwan Amirkhani into the Nigerian prospect’s spot.

Currently on a four-fight UFC winning streak, Sodiq Yusuff (11-1) is undefeated in the Octagon. So far, ‘Super’ picked up victories over Suman Mokhtarian, Sheymon Moraes, Gabriel Benitez and Andre Fili. His only defeated happened in December 2017, a knockout loss to Luis Gomez, at Titan FC 47.

Should Makwan Amirkhani (16-4) officially take the bout on short notice, he will try to start a new streak after finishing Danny Henry via anaconda choke, back in July. The win followed a TKO loss to Shane Burgos in November 2019.

Finally, Edson Barboza (20-9) will look to snap a three-fight losing skid, with defeats to Justin Gaethje, Paul Felder and Dan Ige. His last victory came in December 2018, when he defeated Dan Hooker via TKO.

UFC Fight Night 179 is scheduled to take place on October 10, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. A bantamweight bout between contenders Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandhagen is expected to headline the card.
