Former KSW welterweight champion Dricus du Plessis will reportedly meet Markus Perez on October 10.
UFC middleweight Markus Perez will not get the fight against Khamzat Chimaev he wished for, but at least he will still perform on October 10. According to Combate’s report, the promotion was able to sign former KSW welterweight champion Dricus du Plessis to step in for injured Rodolfo Vieira, against ‘Maluko’.
Currently on a two-fight winning streak, Dricus du Plessis (14-2) is coming off a submission victory over Brendan Lesar, in December 2019. The 26-year-old’s last loss happened October 2018, when he lost the KSW belt to Roberto Soldic via knockout. Overall, the 26-year-old’s has never gone the distance. In his 14 outings, ‘Stilknocks’ scored five knockouts and nine submissions, while losing once via each method.
Perez (12-3) will try to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to fellow Brazilian Wellington Turman, suffered in November 2019. Before that, the 30-year-old scored an anaconda choke submission win over Anthony Hernandez, in February of the same year.
Now, Perez is expected to take on Du Plessis at UFC Fight Night 179, on October 10, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a bantamweight bout between top contenders Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandhagen.
