“I would love to do that (box Joshua). That would be mind-blowing.”
Heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson is gearing up for a charity boxing match against Roy Jones Jr. on Nov. 28th, but the 54-year-old is already thinking ahead.
Tyson hasn’t fought in over twenty years, but that wouldn’t stop the former undisputed heavyweight champion from accepting a turnaround fight against No. 2-ranked British heavyweight Anthony Joshua who, at 30-years-old, is in the prime of his athletic career.
‘Iron Mike’ revealed in a recent interview with TMZ Sports (h/t BJPenn.com) that he would be ‘very interested’ in boxing Joshua for charity after his exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr. in November.
“I would love to do that (box Joshua). That would be mind-blowing,” Tyson said.
“Listen, I’m very interested. If doing that means that we can have a bigger charity exponent, well be it, I’m down to do that too. If it’s all being done out of an exponent of charity and if they’re down to do that, I’m with it too. Listen, it’s entertainment. It’s just for charity. It’s for a good cause. But we’re giving our best.”
Tyson has been keeping fans updated on his progress by posting video footage of his training sessions at the gym, with the ‘the baddest man on the planet’ looking in phenomenal shape despite turning 54 in June. The exhibition bout will take place on Nov. 28 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
