We’ve purchased the ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) and with it our dynamic tag team duo, Matt Ryan and Harry Terjanian, will deliver the best possible ‘radio style’ play-by-play broadcast imaginable throughout UFC 253’s main card, starting at 10 p.m. ET in the video player below!
One year ago, when you were able to go outside and the world wasn’t on fire as much as it is now, the people in charge of MMAmania.com and then-SBN MMA (now known as Combat Culture) relaunched its live UFC pay-per-view (PPV) shows on YouTube with me as the host.
After years of languishing in Combat Sports purgatory and only being known in this world as a hand holding a mic, I was able to YELL FOR MONEY and the entertainment of a few 100,000 face punching fans. And tonight (Sat., Sept. 26, 2020), we come to you again from the studio off of 1-9 in New Jersey for UFC 253.
Let’s face it, this year has sucked for pretty much all of us. Big Bird and Gayle Sayers died, the Mets continue to suck, Colby Covington won’t shut up, and people STILL ARE NOT WEARING MASKS DURING A PANDEMIC! And if you’re reading this and getting pissed off at the last two things, please email [email protected] and yell at me there.
But, the fights … the fights have not sucked. We’ve had 17-second knockouts, shocking title fights, Jon Jones buck shots in the air like he’s trying to clear out the club, and my favorite thing: the baby cage.
Now, we’re back on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with two title fights, one of which should have been a title fight with or without Jon Jones, and the other being Israel Adesanya defending his title against Paulo Costa.
If this were Monopoly, Adesanya would have Park Place and Boardwalk inside Costa’s mind, because it is prime real estate. Costa is mad, very mad, but for a fighter who thrives on defeating people emotionally and then physically, he’s opened himself up for Adesanya, who will aim to pinata the very scary man with more abs than I have friends.
Join Harry Terjanian, our moderator Stephanie Sottile, my recently spayed dog and I for this card tonight as we celebrate one year of shows, one year of moments, and one year of me treating my liver like an 1980’s WWF job guy.
If the fights suck, we’ll do our best to not make them suck. Or at the very least, yell at people.
Remember that MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC 253 fight card this weekend, starting with the early ESPN 2/ESPN+ “Prelims” matches online, which are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET, then the remaining undercard balance (also on ESPN 2/ESPN+) at 8 p.m. ET, before the PPV main card start time at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
