Check out the fifth episode of Embedded for UFC 253.
UFC 253 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the fifth episode for this weekend’s big show on Fight Island, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start in Israel Adesanya’s room as he hits some pads. His coach talks him up. The champ takes the Embedded camera, and makes his videographer and the Embedded guy have a kickoff on some pads as everyone chants “Cameraman kickoff”. That’s unique.
The have the UFC 253 press conference out by the pool. Dominick Reyes wants to look opponent Jan Blachowicz in the eye, but he’s more interested to see if Adesanya and Paulo Costa get into it. Dana says having two undefeated fighters going at it is his kind of fight.
Adesanya thinks Costa is weak from cutting weight. Costa says his grappling might be what wins him the fight. Adesanya dismisses Costa’s BJJ, Costa calls him a blue belt and waves him away. Costa makes fun of Adesanya’s earring, saying that his mom has a similar one. Adesanya didn’t like that.
Blachowicz is cutting weight in a weird thing that makes him look like Spongebob Squarepants. Adesanya plays some ping pong. He goes back to his room to finish his weight cut in the bath.
Weigh-ins time. Costa is the first to the scale, and he’s 185 on the dot. Blachowicz is 205. Adesanya is 184. Reyes is 205. Face-offs now. Reyes and Blachowicz are respectful, as expected. Costa shows off his black belt, and hands Adesanya a white belt. Adesanya throws it back at him and threatens him.
And that’s it. UFC 253 goes down in a few short hours in Abu Dhabi.
