Check out which fighters won performance bonuses from UFC Fight Island 4: Holm vs. Aldana
The Flash Forum on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE was home to a great night of fights at UFC Fight Island 4: Holm vs. Aldana. The card saw three (T)KOs, one submission and seven decisions, including one split-draw.
The prelims kicked off with a quick finish when Luigi Vendramini landed a sweet head kick that dropped Jessin Ayari. Vendramini followed him down and managed to land a few big shots before Jason Herzog called a halt to the action. Casey Kenney dominated Alateng Heili in a lopsided unanimous decision, and Loma Lookboonme also scored a unanimous decision over Jinh Yu Frey. Nassourdine Imavov beat up Jordan Williams over the course of three rounds, taking a unanimous decision, and Charles Jourdain’s battle with Josh Culibao ended in a controversial split-draw. Carlos Condit broke his five-fight losing skid when he beat Court McGee via dominant unanimous decision. The “Natural Born Killer” scored a late first-round knockdown off a beautiful right hook, then boxed up the TUF alum over the next two rounds.
The main card opened with Dusko Todorovic stopping Dequan Townsend in the second round after landing about 117 punches (early UFC fight stat) on the octagon veteran. Kyler Phillips snagged a second-round TKO victory over his late replacement opponent, Cameron Else, and then said he wanted to live at Fight Island. Juliana Pena and Germaine de Randamie put on a fantastic scrap and we even got to see GDR attempt a Von Flue choke! Round three would see de Randamie go for another submission, this time a guillotine choke—a choke that put Pena to sleep! GDR now has a submission win on her record. Yorgan de Castro and Carlos Felipe put on what can be loosely described as a fight—Carlos Felipe won it and Kevin Sataki reffed his ass off, breaking up the action about 500 times (at least).
The main event was a spirited battle between Holly Holm and Irene Aldana that saw Holm’s boxing experience and control of the pace and range overwhelm the Mexican striker. Holm level changed well, scored takedowns, and showed the community she’s nowhere near ready for retirement. She looked phenomenal and she took the W for her outstanding performance.
Performance of the Night: Germaine De Randamie, Kyler Phillips, Dusko Todorovic, Luigi Vendramini
Luigi Vendramini (TKO head kick + strikes at 1:12 of round 1), Dusko Todorovic (TKO via punches at 3:15 of round 2), Kyler Phillips (TKO via ground-and-pound at :44 of round 2), and Germaine de Randamie (guillotine at 3:25 of round 3) all finished their fights, and all four would take performance bonuses.
Fight of the Night: None
