Bellator 248: “MVP vs. Houston” takes place this weekend (Sat., Oct. 10, 2020) at Accor Arena in Paris, France. In addition to the featured bout of “Venom” Michael Page (17-1) and Ross Houston (8-0), the show will also offer a “European Series”-themed card headlined by Cheick Kongo (30-10-2) vs. Timothy Johnson (14-6) in a Heavyweight rematch.
Aside from the usual broadcast partners of CBS Sports Network (for the Bellator card) and Channel 5 in the United Kingdom (for the European Series” card), Gareth A. Davies revealed that a potential “50 million peeps” could now watch Saturday’s broadcast live thanks to a new delivery option.
The details:
Breaking exclusive: Huge moment for the sport of MMA in UK & Europe @BBCiPlayer @bbcsport to show @BellatorMMA live Saturday afternoon from Paris@ScottCoker @Bellator_Europe #bellatorparis
8 out of 10 UK population use the BBC iPlayer- nearly 50million peeps@Michaelpage247 pic.twitter.com/mD1ceKHG6R— Gareth A Davies (@GarethADaviesDT) October 6, 2020
This is of course hyperbolic in the extreme. Just because 50 million people in the United Kingdom use the BBC iPlayer does not mean 50 million people are tuning in to see “MVP” fight on Saturday. Nonetheless, congratulations to Bellator MMA on picking up another big broadcast partner before Saturday’s card.
