I know the tightwads who run Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) would never read any of my word vomit so this is probably a waste of time, but man … get with the fucking program already.
UFC newcomer Trevin Jones stepped up on just a few days notice to do the promotion a solid and fight highly-touted prospect Timur Valiev at a catchweight of 140 pounds, and as a result got fined $1,800 and suspended for nearly five months.
All thanks to a positive test for (gasp) marijuana.
That’s according to a report from MMA Junkie, which also brings word that Jones’ win at UFC on ESPN 15 was overturned to a “No Contest.” I’m not saying the rules don’t have to be followed, but even United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) admitted that marijuana penalties are dumb.
Then again, these are the same people who almost got away with this.
“The only thing I smoked was my opponent!” Jones wrote on social media. “Thank you UFC for investing in me. I’ll see you guys out there in January.”
That’s a “Five Star” attitude.
