Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to stage UFC Fight Iand 6 this Saturday night (Oct. 17, 2020), which goes down inside Flash Forum, located on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
In the main event of the evening, Chan Sung Jung will take on Brian Ortega for the the right to face current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight title holder, Alexander Volkanovski, likely in early 2021. But before the two men get it on inside the Octagon, let’s take a look back at “Korean Zombie’s” most recent win.
In December of last year, Jung and Ortega were supposed to headline UFC Fight Night 165 in Busan, South Korea before “T-City” was forced to withdraw from the event with an unfortunate injury. Stepping in to fill the void was Frankie Edgar, the former Lightweight champion who was looking to cut the 145-pound line with a win.
It didn’t take long for “Korean Zombie” to impose his will on “The Answer,” rocking him with a solid right hand one minute into the fight. A few seconds later, Jung tagged Edgar with a beautiful combination that dropped him to the canvas. From there, the Korean-born combatant pounced on his fallen foe, though Edgar hung tough and survived.
But it wasn’t for too long, as Jung blasted Edgar with one shot after another. Upon getting to his feet, “Korean Zombie” once again piled on the strikes, dropping him one more time, forcing the the first-round stoppage.
Now, Jung will look to earn his way into his second shot at the 145 pound title if he can score a win against another former championship contender in Ortega.
