After seven years competing for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) James Vick is no longer a part of the promotion. Aaron Bronsteter recently confirmed that UFC officials opted not to re-sign Vick after his contract expired following his loss to Niko Price in October of 2019.
The defeat was “The Texecutioner’s” fourth straight, previously losing to Justin Gaethje, Paul Felder and Dan Hooker.
Prior to his skid, Vick had done pretty well for himself inside the Octagon, winning nine of his first 10 fights with the promotion, moving him up the rankings in the process. Along the way, he picked up big wins over Abel Trujillo and Joseph Duffy. But after getting knocked out by Gaethje in the very first round in 2018 (see it), Vick went on an unfortunate downward spiral which resulted in three more defeats.
At 33 years of age, Vick — whose last win came against Francisco Trinaldo in early 2018 — should have no issues finding another place to call home, as the report states that he is currently in talks with other promotions.
All told, Vick ends his UFC run with a 9-5 mark.
