Said Nurmagomedov is hoping for a quick turnaround fight at UFC 254.
Said Nurmagomedov is looking for a quick turnaround following his first-round knockout of Mark Striegl at UFC Fight Night 180, with the Dagestani native hoping to fill in as a replacement opponent for the upcoming UFC 254 pay-per-view on Oct. 24.
Said, who is in no way related to reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov despite both fighters sharing the same second name, told the media that he will stay put on Fight Island for UFC 254 despite no bantamweight matchups being announced.
“Ideally, I would want to return by the end of December or the beginning of January, but I’m ready to fight and maybe replace somebody for the next event, while I’m on Fight Island,” the UFC bantamweight prospect said.
Nurmagomedov made his UFC debut in 2018 and has racked up wins over Justin Scoggins, Ricardo Ramos and, most recently, Mark Striegl. The 28-year-old is the former AFC bantamweight champion and has amassed a professional record of 14-2 (3-1 UFC).
UFC 254: Khabib vs. Gaethje takes place on Oct. 24 at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
