Danielle Nickerson, ex-wife of UFC welterweight veteran Mike Perry, has come forward with allegations of domestic abuse along with audio from a 911 call placed by “Platinum’s” mother in the wake of an alleged physical altercation back in February.
“This is nothing to hurt him,” Nickerson told MMA Junkie. “I know that my words are not going to have an impact on his career… This is for helping others. This is for getting the word out there about what you can do to help people in a domestic violence situation and the warning signs and how to not get this deep into something.”
Nickerson accused Perry of assaulting her on multiple occasions, including an incident on Feb. 10, 2020, in Orlando, Fla., one that allegedly left her with hematomas, bruises and a cracked rib, forcing her to flee to a neighbor’s house where she called her mother-in-law for help.
“My son is out in the driveway, and he’s violent right now, and I’m scared for my life, and I don’t know what he’s going to do,” Perry’s mother, Sabra Young, told the dispatcher during her 911 call. “He’s revving his engine right now. His wife is inside my house, and I’m afraid he’s going to hurt her.”
Police arrived at the scene, but Perry had already left and no arrests were made.
Perry, 29, is scheduled to compete against former 170-pound champion Robbie Lawler at the upcoming UFC 255 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Nov. 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he is expected to be cornered by his current girlfriend Latory Gonzalez.
“Platinum” denies getting physical with Nickerson.
“I did not put hands on my ex at any point in our short term marriage,” Perry wrote on Twitter. “I realize that I have said some things in the past that do not put me and what I stand for in the best of light and for that I apologize. I am now in a loving relationship where I am looking forward and excited to welcoming my first born. I’m hopeful my ex can move on and find peace as I have.”
Perry recently completed an anger management course after a public meltdown in Texas.
Nickerson filed a protective order against Perry back in March, but claims to have omitted certain details from her request and was subsequently denied by a Florida judge. They divorced in July and Perry is now going to be a father with Gonzalez.
UFC has yet to comment.
