Anderson Silva was stopped at UFC Vegas 12 by Uriah Hall in what may be his last fight in the UFC.
No. 10 ranked middleweight contender earned a fourth-round technical knockout over former middleweight champion Anderson Silva in the main event of UFC Vegas 12.
What was the high point of the fight?
The first couple of rounds seemed to be those of Silva as he stayed in the face of Hall for the majority of the fight, unafraid of his hard-hitting opponent. Silva started showing off his patented style that we have come to know, throwing some spinning attacks and hand fighting. Hall had his moments too as he landed a lightning fast left jab here and there, but a new weapon came became apparent toward the end of the third round.
As Silva pressed forward, he left himself wide open to be hit by a powerful right hand from Hall. The right hand put Silva down with just seconds left in the third, but time ran out before he could get the stoppage. That did not matter much because Hall picked up right where he left off when the fourth round began, and much like the last few moments of the previous round, Silva came in leaving himself open yet again. Hall unleashed that right hand and Silva went down before finishing up with some follow-up punches on the ground.
Where do they go from here?
Hall mentioned going after current middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, but perhaps it is best to get at least one more fight in before that happens. Maybe he can avenge the loss to Derek Brunson he suffered back in 2016 for his next fight.
Throughout the week, it had been drilled into the heads of fans and pundits that this would be the final time we see Silva inside of the Octagon. Considering how his fight ended, this could very well be true. Silva seemed to commit to keeping this his last fight while speaking with Michael Bisping during his post-fight interview, but kind of uncommitted a few seconds later.
Honestly, this should be the last fight for Silva. He has given us all he had over the years and really has nothing else to prove. He will go down as a legend of the sport no matter what, so it is time for him to walk away.
Watch it now, later or never?
It may be hard for you all to watch Silva go out like that, so maybe watch this later when you can steel yourself.
