With Proper Twelve whiskey a prominent sponsor of Davis vs. Santa Cruz you know McGregor was watching the fight. Here’s his thoughts on that KO of the Year uppercut.

It was a pretty sweet weekend for combat sports as not only did we have the UFC’s return to Las Vegas on ESPN but a big PPV between Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Leo Santa Cruz that saw Floyd Mayweather’s protégé “Tank” finally solidify himself as one to watch.

The WBA secondary world lightweight and now WBA super world junior lightweight champion hit Santa Cruz with a counter left uppercut from hell in the 6th round, ending their fight and causing a sensation on social media. Watch the finish here.

Amongst those watching: Conor McGregor, which isn’t surprising considering Proper Twelve whiskey advertisements were plastered all over the ring. “The Notorious” liked what he saw outta “Tank” during “Proper Whiskey Fight Night” and heaped praise on the 25 year old.

Then McGregor retweeted a highlight shot of an uppercut KO he landed against Marcus Brimage in his first UFC fight.

Another fan pulled up a clip of McGregor hitting Mayweather with an uppercut early in their boxing match, leading McGregor to compare the different situations the weapons came into play.

It wasn’t all boxing from McGregor, who also had this to say about Anderson Silva:

And as for his own fighting future, it looks like Conor McGregor is en route for a January 2021 return as Dana White confirmed following UFC Vegas 12 that a fight against Dustin Poirier was official.
