Bantamweight Felipe Colares’ fight against Gustavo Lopez was postponed to an unknown date due to a positive test.
Brazilian bantamweight Felipe Colares will no longer be performing next Saturday. Per Globo Esporte’s report, ‘Cabocao’ was forced out of the UFC Vegas 13 card due to a positive COVID-19 test. His match against Gustavo Lopez will be shifted to an event yet to be determined by the promotion.
In a brief interview with Globo Esporte, Felipe explained he is asymptomatic at the moment and hopes to bounce back as soon as possible. Still hopeful, Colares expects a speedy recovery and believes he will meet Gustavo Lopez in the near future, once he is fully recovered.
“Unfortunately, I was very well trained. I was in the best physical and mental shape of my career. The whole world is going through this problem. God’s plans are bigger than mine. I understand and trust (God). Gustavo will have to wait a little longer and we will soon meet.”
In his last outing, Colares (9-2) dropped a unanimous decision to Montel Jackson, back in January. The loss came right after the 26-year-old’s last win, a split decision victory over Domingo Pilarte, in July 2019.
UFC Vegas 13 is expected to take place in at the UFC Apex, in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 7. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a light heavyweight bout between contenders Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos.
