The entire ONE: “Inside the Matrix” Part II will be broadcast this Friday. The action takes place inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium and the event will be headlined by a welterweight title fight.
Kiamrian Abbasov makes the first defence of his welterweight title against James Nakashima while Timofey Nastyukhin takes on Pieter Buist in a potential lightweight title eliminator.
Here is my preview:
Priscilla Gaol vs. Bo Meng (Atomweight)
Bo Meng (14-5) beat current UFC star Weili Zhang on her pro debut but since then her wins have mostly been compiled at the expense of mediocre opposition. She has quite a tentative striking style and seems more comfortable on the ground.
Indonesian southpaw Priscilla Gaol (7-4) comes from a wushu background. She is a veteran of 11 ONE Championship fights and nearly all of them have been the distance.
Eko Roni Saputra vs. Ramon Gonzales (Flyweight)
Eki Saputra (3-1) has been handed a fast turnaround after his win earlier this month. The Indonesian comes from a wrestling background and is based at Evolve MMA in Singapore.
He faces Ramon Gonzalez (4-3) who has a background in taekwondo but has won three ONE Championship fights by submission. The Filipino went the distance with Hexigetu last time out, dropping a decision to the Chinese fighter.
Yuya Wakamatsu vs. Kyu Sung Kim (Flyweight)
Yuya Wakamatsu (12-4) announced himself to ONE Championship fans in spectacular style by knocking out Eustaquio and posed Demetrious Johnson some problems. He has dynamite in his right hand but is coming off a slightly lackluster decision win over Dae Hwan Kim.
Kyu Sung Kim (10-3) was well beaten by former flyweight champion Geje Eustaquio on his ONE Championship debut. The Korean is one of the tallest fighters in the division and is primarily a grappler.
Timofey Nastyukhin vs. Pieter Buist (Lightweight)
The co-main event looks likely to be a title eliminator in the lightweight division. Pieter Buist (17-4) is one of the tallest fighters in the division and is coming off three impressive ONE Championship wins culminating in a defeat of Eduard Folayang.
He has been matched with Timofey Nastyukhin (13-4) who is coming off the biggest win on his career but has been out of action for over 18 months. The Russian suffered a knee injury but will be looking to build on the momentum he has after knocking out Eddie Alvarez.
Kiamrian Abbasov (c) vs. James Nakashima (For welterweight title)
Kiamrian Abbasov (22-4) beat Zebaztiam Kadestam by decision to claim the title at ONE: ‘Dawn of Valor’ last October. He is riding a four fight winning streak and is primarily a wrestler.
James Nakashima (12-0) is a former LFA welterweight champion. He has earned his title shot by winning three fights out of three for the promotion and with both men having a similar style this one could come down to who is the strongest wrestler,
