After Islam Makhachev was forced out of his scheduled Lightweight bout against Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Vegas 14 — which was set to pop off this Saturday night (Nov. 14, 2020) in Las Vegas, Nevada — Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) enlisted Paul Felder to step in on five days notice.
That meant that the promotion also had to create a whole new event poster (see the original one here) to promote the revised main event between “The Irish Dragon” and “RDA,” which will still be a five-round fight.
The bout will be Felder’s first in nine months as he was last seen coming up short against Dan Hooker this past February. The long layoff and short notice nature of the bout could be why bookies pegged him as the underdog.
That said, props has to also be given to dos Anjos who agreed to take the fight — which is short notice for him too — as Felder is one of the hardest hitting and most durable fighters in the game today.
For Felder, getting a win over the former division champion will prove he’s a true “BMF,” while dos Anjos can raise his own stock with a victory over the longtime veteran, who was previously set to call the fight between “RDA” and Makhachev.
