Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
After months of speculation and then contract negotiation, the Conor McGregor sweepstakes are decided: he’s fighting Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 on Jan. 23, 2021. Now that all that is settled, however, further speculation immediately begins: who will McGregor fight afterward?!? At the moment, a Lightweight title fight or Manny Pacquiao boxing match seem the most likely next move.
However, YouTube star and professional boxer (sort of) Logan Paul is interjecting himself in the mix. Paul is set to face star NBA point guard Nate Robinson on Saturday night’s Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr event. He’s already looking beyond that match up and eyeing McGregor, however. He believes that given the potential money to be made between their large fan bases, the match up is simply “undeniable.”
“It’s bound to happen,” Paul explained to CBS Sports. “At the end of the day, this is a business. We’re talking about pay-per-view buys. This fight on Saturday [Tyson vs. RJJ] has already shattered pay-per-view pre-sale records by far.
“McGregor has that same pay-per-view draw. I have that same pay-per-view draw. I think after I take down a couple more opponents, Paul vs. Conor McGregor is going to be undeniable. There’s no other fighter with as big a platform as me. He wants to fight Manny Pacquiao; Manny Pacquiao will destroy him. It will be another embarrassing loss, just like he got embarrassed by Floyd. Jake Paul vs. Conor McGregor is bound to happen. I know he’s seeing these interviews, I know he’s seeing the sh*t talking. It’s going to happen.”
What’s more upsetting: Jake Paul comparing his drawing power to a legendary boxer like Tyson, or the fact that he’s likely correct?

Starter pack memes are underrated.
Despite Dana White’s claim that Mike Perry was not allowed to sell his corner slot, a Redditor successfully bought his way into the corner. Here’s the highlights:

Some lessons are only learned the hard way. Also, look at the calf muscles on this kid!
Somebody get Fight Circus on the phone ASAP, this is a much improved version of their two-on-one match ups.

Calf kicks are a definite game-changer!

Looks can be deceiving, but yeah, that appears to be one hell of a squeeze!
Damn, what a finish by Mikael Silander submitting the former FNG bantamweight champ Tomas Deak by first round guillotine. On late notice no less. #ACA114 pic.twitter.com/ID2enXJZoS
