Deiveson Figueiredo returns for his second UFC PPV in a row and Tony Ferguson returns, setting us up for an epic night of fights on December 12th.
On November 21st at UFC 255, Deiveson Figueiredo defended his flyweight belt against Alex Perez, smashing the scrappy challenger in the first round and submitting him with a guillotine choke. And now … 21 short days later, Figueiredo will have the fastest turnaround for a champion in UFC history when he defends his belt once again against Brandon Moreno at UFC 256.
It’s a pretty crazy situation, and it’s all laid out in the new Countdown to UFC 256 episode which you can watch in full care of the UFC’s YouTube channel.
Also featured during the Countdown episode: a little (or a lot of) UFC patting on the back for managing to salvage 2020 in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic. Yes, despite some bumps along the way and a whole slew of main events and undercard / prelim fights falling out due to COVID-19, we have to hand it to the promotion for succeeding at keeping the sport going during a global pandemic.
Tony Ferguson was the first headliner back into the cage for the 2020 Coronavirus season, so it’s fitting that he come back and close out the pay-per-view year as the co-main of UFC 255. He’ll take on Charles Oliveira, who is a joy to watch any time let alone when he’s dialed in. Fresh off a submission win over Kevin Lee, we can’t wait to see Oliveira and Ferguson scrap.
Here’s the full card as it stands now:
- Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno
- Tony Ferguson vs. Charles Oliveira
- Renato Moicano vs. Rafael Fiziev
- Kevin Holland vs. Ronaldo Souza
- Junior dos Santos vs. Ciryl Gane

Obviously the card is subject to change in these troubled times, but with so many great fighters, we know we’ll be locked in and watching on December 12th.
