UFC strawweight veteran Angela Hill recently tested positive for coronavirus and as a result, has been pulled from her Tecia Torres rematch at the upcoming UFC 256 pay-per-view (PPV) event this weekend at APEX in Las Vegas.
“Unfortunately I tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t be fighting next week,” Hill wrote on Instagram. “Tried to stay as safe as possible during fight camp but with MMA training there’s virtually no social distancing. Was really looking forward to running it back, maybe we still can in the near future.”
No word yet on whether or not the promotion will attempt to secure a short-notice replacement for Torres.
“Was a little sick over the weekend but feeling back to normal now,” Hill continued. “Would be trying to fight under different circumstances but thankful for my health and some time to recover.”
After rattling off three straight wins and working her way into the division Top 15, Hill (12-9) dropped back-to-back contests to 115-pound mainstays Claudia Gadelha and Michelle Waterson, though both split decisions could have easily gone in favor of “Overkill.”
