Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is expected to make his return against Charles Oliveira at the upcoming UFC 256 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., Dec. 12, 2020 inside APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

But “El Cucuy” is already putting “Do Bronx” on blast for previous weight-cutting mishaps and wants the mixed martial arts (MMA) community to understand there is a zero-tolerance policy in effect if the Brazilian comes in too heavy this Friday afternoon in “Sin City.”

“I Am Counting On The Brazilian Charles Oliveira And Others To Come In Overweight Like Usual,” Ferguson wrote on Instagram. “So I’m Calling It Now. Case Law: Short Notice Fight, Oliveira Will Not Cut Weight All Week And Show Up 3-4 Pounds Over Weight And Use The Excuse Of A Short Notice Fight. If He Shows Up That Much Overweight We Are Not Competing. So Crew, Make Sure You Visit The Kids Page And Encourage Him To Make The Weight If You Want To See A Fight.”

Oliveira, 31, has a history of missing weight throughout the years but the bulk of his infractions have come at featherweight. Even with a short-notice fight, “Do Bronx” should be able to effectively make the cut down to 155 pounds with little-to-no concern.

This is an extremely important bout for both fighters, as well as the division overall, now that lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is retired. The next title shot is up for grabs and the winner of Oliveira vs. Ferguson could end up fighting the winner of this fight.
