Tecia Torres will remain on UFC 256 after losing her original opponent.

Tecia Torres will still be competing at UFC 256 as a short-notice replacement has been found for her after original opponent, Angela Hill was forced out of their fight due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Torres announced on her social media several hours ago that the replacement fighter was set, but gave no further details regarding who it would be. Best Fight Picks on Twitter shed light on this and reported the news that Torres would be meeting promotional newcomer, Sam ‘Sampage’ Hughes.

Earlier this year, Torres returned to the Octagon after almost a year away and picked up a unanimous decision win over Brianna Van Buren at UFC on ESPN: Blaydes vs. Volkov. The victory over Van Buren saw Torres get back on the win column after suffering four straight losses to the likes of Jessica Andrade, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Weili Zhang and Marina Rodriguez.

Torres looks to go 2-0 before the end of the year against the debuting Hughes.

Hughes holds an overall record of 5-1, with three of her wins coming by way of submission. In her last couple of fights, Hughes has competed under the Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) banner in both the strawweight and flyweight divisions. She made her debut in the promotion at LFA 81, where she earned an unanimous decision victory over Lisa Mauldin.

In just her second LFA fight, Hughes competed for the vacant strawweight championship against Vanessa Demopoulos at LFA 85, but lost by triangle choke in the fourth round. Hughes came back to the cage three months later at LFA 93 and picked up a first-round submission win over Danielle Hindley.

With Torres versus Hughes being added to the lineup, UFC 256 moves forward with 11 scheduled fights. In the main event of the night, Deiveson Figueiredo puts the flyweight title on the line against No. 1 ranked contender Brandon Moreno.
