Michelle Waterson recently bowed out of her scheduled Flyweight bout against Amanda Ribas, which was in line to go down at UFC 257 on Jan. 23, 2021 on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
And it didn’t take long for the promotion to find a replacement.
Indeed, Marina Rodriguez will step in to face Ribas in what will be Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) first pay-per-view (PPV) event of the year, according to MMA Fighting. Rodriguez is coming off the first loss of her professional mixed martial arts (MMA) earlier this year, losing to Carla Esparza at UFC Fight Island 3. Prior to that, Marina racked up an impressive 12-0-2 record, suffering two draws inside the Octagon.
Ribas, on the other hand, is looking to score her sixth straight win, fourth inside the Octagon.
UFC 257 will feature the highly-anticipated return of former UFC “champ-champ,” Conor McGregor, who will face former interim Lightweight king, Dustin Poirier, in a rematch six years in the making.
