Middleweight Ronaldo Souza is trying to keep a positive attitude after his KO loss to Kevin Holland at UFC 256.
Middleweight veteran Ronaldo Souza has seen better days in his mixed martial arts career. After being knocked out in unusual manner by Kevin Holland at UFC 256, ‘Jacare’ suffered his fourth loss in his last five outings, but is trying to remain positive about the bad moment he is going through.
On his personal Instagram account, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu blackbelt shared a video in which he thanks his fans for the support following the loss. Additionally, Jacare also points out how he had a great training camp and was upset he got caught with Holland’s heavy shots early into the fight.
“Hey, guys. I’d like to thank you for the support. I’m headed to Brazil now to spend time with my family.” Ronaldo said in his native Portuguese. “I’m all right, but pretty upset with what happened. I was doing great physically, I had a great camp. My coaches did a wonderful job. Unfortunately my opponent did better than me and was able to connect his shots. Now is the time to relax, spend some time with the family. I’m here to thank you for the support. Thank you very much.”
In the same post, Ronaldo also wrote a message to his fans, in which he shared his intention come back to the Octagon soon.
“First of all, I’d like to thank God for the opportunity to fight again. Also, my family, friends and my dear fans for all the messages of support I’ve received. I’d like to thank my great team for my preparation and for making me 100% for the fight. Now it’s time to rest for a few days with my family and soon return to the Octagon in search of victory. Thank you to everyone who cheered for me.”
In his last five outings, Ronaldo Souza (26-9-1 NC) suffered losses to Kevin Holland, Jan Blachowicz, Jack Hermansson and Kelvin Gastelum. The 41-year-old’s only win in the last two years is a knockout victory over former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, back in November 2018.
