Welterweight Michel Pereira is ready to show some new tricks in his fight against Khaos Williams, on December 19.
One of the zaniest UFC fighters is about to become even zanier for his next outing as welterweight striker Michel Pereira is just days away from an intriguing bout against rising knockout artist Khaos Williams on December 19, in the UFC’s last card of its 2020 calendar.
Known for his unusual Octagon antics, which include flying strikes, backflips into guard and jumping on the cage, among others, Pereira is ready to show even more tricks against Williams, some of which never seen before. In an interview with Combate, Michel claimed to have a bunch of new moves ahead of the contest, some of them with rather suggestive names.
“I have 43 never repeated weird moves. There’s the neck slap, the fatality, the brutality, the mule kick. I can’t explain it. It’s really crazy and complicated. Sometimes I’m asleep thinking about it. Sometimes it’s during training or playing video games. I think it’s a God given gift, I’m sure. It’s like a singer who comes up with a song that goes on to become a hit.”
Although Michel will not promise to show any specific moves against Williams, he does expect to put on another exciting outing for the fans, as usual. Because of the smaller Octagon, Pereira says the most recent cards have hindered his ability to pull off some of his flashier strikes.
“It’s complicated to predict anything, because a fight is a fight,” Pereira said. “The Octagon being smaller has made it harder for me to do some of the stuff I do. I can’t tell you I’ll do something and then when it’s time I have no room to do it. The Octagon has blocked me a little, but I have a lot of stuff up my sleeve that nobody has ever done. When I do it, people will be like: ‘Holy cow, I can’t believe Michel Pereira did that’. Even I get like that. I’ll say: ‘I can’t believe I’ll have the courage to do something like that’. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve, but this Octagon has been a stone in my shoe.”
“I’m a showman,” Pereira continued. “I want the people who watch to see a spectacle. I prefer to fight well. Winning or losing are consequences of your work. If you deserve it or not, let the best man win. I’m ready, I’ve prepared well. I hope he has, too. It’s going to be a great show, because we both want to win so badly.”
In his last outing, Michel Pereira (24-11-2 NC) picked up a submission win over Zelim Imadaev, back in September. The victory snapped a two-fight losing skid for the 27-year-old, who lost to Diego Sanchez via disqualification and dropped a unanimous decision to Tristan Connelly before that.
Now, Michel Pereira is expected to take on Khaos Williams at UFC Vegas 17, on December 19, at the UFC Apex. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a welterweight bout between top contenders Stephen Thompson and Geoff Neal.
