It’s the second time the fight between Roberson and Lungiambula has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
Karl Roberson’s middleweight fight with Dalcha Lungiambula has been scrapped again, both times due to COVID-19.
The UFC announced the fight cancellation through a press release on Friday. Roberson revealed on Instagram that COVID-19 was the reason for the cancellation. IThis news came shortly after Aiemann Zahabi vs. Drako Rodriguez was also nixed from this Saturday’s lineup due to Zahabi’s positive COVID test.
Roberson and Lungiambula were supposed to meet at UFC 256, but a positive COVID test on Roberson’s behalf cancelled that fight also.
Roberson (9-3) last fought at UFC Vegas 2 in June losing a first-round submission to Marvin Vettori. This is the fifth scheduled fight that has been cancelled for Roberson this year.
Lungiambula (10-1) suffered the first defeat of his professional career to Magomed Ankalaev in November of 2019. The 35-year-old who was signed to the UFC last year hasn’t fought since that loss.
UFC Vegas 17 takes place this Saturday , December 19th, and will be headlined by a welterweight fight between former title challenger Stephen Thompson and Geoff Neal.
