When I heard that UFC welterweight Mike Perry had a hospital scare in Miami, my first thought was that “Platinum” had been hospitalized due to these lingering injuries then went nuts in the emergency room; which to be fair, sounds completely plausible.

Instead, Perry and his partner Latory Gonzalez are now proud parents.

“Welcome to the world son,” Perry wrote on Twitter. “Thank you so much to all the ladies who helped at Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami, the boy gave us a scare when he came out and didn’t want to take his first breath, but thank God for our son!”

Perry, 29, who makes bigger headlines for his antics outside the cage, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Tim Means at the UFC 255 pay-per-view (PPV) event last October in Las Vegas and has not registered back-to-back wins in over three years.

As of this writing, the 14-7 “Platinum” remains unbooked.
