The rematch between Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera has a new scheduled date.

Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera are still set to meet for the second time, but it will now be at a later date than what was originally scheduled.

Reported by Mike Heck and Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting, the rematch between Munhoz and Rivera has been moved from UFC Fight Island 8 on Jan. 20 to UFC 258 on Feb. 13. The reason for the shift in date has not been made known at this time of this writing. Both Munhoz and Rivera have yet to respond to the change.

Munhoz and Rivera first shared the Octagon in November 2015 at UFC Fight Night: Belfort vs. Henderson 3. Rivera picked up a split decision victory over Munhoz, which saw his then-record improve to 18-1.

Since their first meeting, Munhoz and Rivera have gone on to earn a number of wins and losses to top names in the bantamweight division. Munhoz has earned stoppage victories over the likes Bryan Caraway and Cody Garbrandt in recent years, but is now on a two-fight losing streak after coming up short against Aljamain Sterling and Frankie Edgar respectively.

Rivera had continued success in the UFC until he suffered his first loss in the promotion against Marlon Moraes at UFC Fight Night: Moraes vs. Rivera in 2018. He would ultimately rebound with a unanimous decision win over John Dodson at UFC 228, but would fall to both the aforementioned Sterling and Petr Yan in his next two outings.

Rivera has since come out of his own two-fight losing streak with a decision win over Cody Stamann at UFC on ESPN: Kattar vs. Ige in what would be his featherweight debut in the UFC. He returns to bantamweight for the rematch against Munhoz.

UFC 258 is reported to be headlined by a long-awaited welterweight championship fight between current champion Kamaru Usman and No. 2 ranked contender Gilbert Burns.
