For those MMA fans who lived through the never-ending tease of Jon Jones vs. Anderson Silva, which UFC President Dana White once declared was the one fight he “had to (expletive) make,” there’s no shortage of pessimism when looking ahead to a potential super fight between “Bones” and current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Who unlike “The Spider,” will jump as many weight classes as it takes.

“With Jon Jones moving up to heavyweight, I don’t know,” White told ESPN about the prospect of Jones vs. Adesanya. “I don’t want to get too excited. Adesanya still has to fight Jan (Blachowicz) and Jones is at heavyweight. There’s so many massive hurdles that these guys need to get over, so don’t get excited thinking about Jon Jones vs. Israel Adesanya.”

Get excited about this nonexistent fight instead.

Jones (26-1, 1 NC) is expected to fight the winner of Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou, who rematch for the heavyweight strap later this year. As for Adesanya (20-0), he’s keeping his 185-pound belt on ice while attempting to usurp the light heavyweight strap from Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259.

So much for this proposed timeline.
