Alexander Volkanovski was keen to remind Max Holloway of their first two featherweight bouts at UFC 245 and UFC 251.
Max Holloway put on a striking clinic against Calvin Kattar in the UFC on ABC 1 main event last night, landing a record-breaking 445 strikes over the course of their five-round contest at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
As impressive as his performance was, Alexander Volkanovski was keen to remind ‘Blessed’ of the striking stats from their featherweight matchup at UFC 251 that saw ‘The Great’ outland Holloway 137-102 in significant strikes to retain his featherweight title.
Volkanovski, who originally beat Holloway to win the featherweight belt back in December 2019, also outlanded Holloway 157-134 in their first title bout at UFC 245.
The reigning featherweight champ posted the stats on Twitter to remind Holloway who the real king is at 145 pounds.
Good fight @BlessedMMA but you ain’t pulling those numbers when I’m in front of you!! pic.twitter.com/k8h4O54PQ4

“Good fight @BlessedMMA but you ain’t pulling those numbers when I’m in front of you!!” Volkanovski wrote on Saturday evening.
Despite the stats being in Volkanovski’s favor many pundits scored the rematch for Holloway, who got the better of his featherweight rival in the opening rounds.
Although there are calls for a trilogy bout, ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reports that Volkanovski will defend his featherweight strap against Brian Ortega in the UFC 260 co-main event on March 27.
Alexander Volkanovski vs. Brian Ortega for the featherweight title has been booked for UFC 260 on March 27, per sources.
The hope is for the fight to serve as co-main for a card headlined by Miocic vs. Ngannou 2 for the HW title, tho, that fight isn’t finalized yet, sources say.
