Max Holloway added to his legacy with his UFC Fight Island 7 win over Calvin Kattar
Max Holloway walked into the octagon on Saturday night on a two-fight losing skid. Twenty-five minutes later he walked out with a smile, a one-sided decision win, a $50,000 bonus and a collection of new entries in the UFC record book.
Holloway has always been known for his ability to put a lot of volume into his striking game. Against Calvin Kattar in the main event of UFC Fight Island 7, the former UFC featherweight champion took that volume to another level. Over the course of the featherweight scrap, Holloway attempted a mind-boggling 744 significant strikes, a number which dwarfs the previous record of 515 from Colby Covington’s win over Robbie Lawler in 2019.
Holloway won the fight by one-sided decision. The judges scored the contest 50-43, 50-43 and 50-42 in favor of the 29-year-old.
UFC Fight Island 7 took place at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. ABC broadcast the main card following prelims on ESPN+. Below is a look at where Holloway sits in the UFC record book after his win over Kattar.
