UFC Fight Island 8 betting odds: Neil Magny slightly favored over Michael Chiesa

We’ve got a weekday event this Wednesday (January 20th) as UFC Fight Island 8 sets sail from Abu Dhabi at an extra early North American start time. The top of the billing is getting the promotion’s #9 ranked welterweight, Neil Magny, locking horns with the #8 rated, Michael Chiesa. The oddsmakers are leaning towards Magny over Chiesa here, but not by a great deal. Neil clocks in as a slight -132 betting favorite, with a $100 wager potentially paying out $175.76. As for Chiesa, he is posted up with a minor underdog value of +122, with a winning ticket paying out $222 altogether.

The bookies are banking on these two top-ranked welterweights making it to the scorecards, but the betting public are leaning the opposite way. The prop bet ‘Fight goes to decision’ started out with a strongly favored moneyline of -210, with the ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ option beginning its betting life as a +160 dog. Since first dropping, action on the underdog side has sent the ‘Fight goes to decision’ prop down to the -140 mark, with ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ now barely holding on to a plus line at +110.

According to the odds, there’s a much greater chance of Magny swaying the judges than does Chiesa. The exotic bet ‘Magny wins by decision’ can be had at an underdog tick of +145, with ‘Not Magny by decision’ favored at -175. Going back the other way, the bet ‘Chiesa wins by decision’ holds a much heftier underdog value of +429, with ‘Not Chiesa by decision’ wildly favored at -620.
