Check out the second episode of Embedded for UFC 257.
UFC 257 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the second episode for this weekend’s big show on Fight Island, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start off at the Vegas airport with Jessica Eye, who discusses her opponent Jojo Calderwood. Sara McMann talks about her wrestling career and how she’s very used to long-distance travel by now. Antonio Carlos Junior wants to grapple with a striker. Brad Tavares isn’t looking forward to the long flight. He hope he doesn’t have to sit next to his opponent, understandably.
So guess who is sitting across the aisle from him? Yup, his opponent.
McMann is doing some shadowboxing on the flight while everyone else sleeps. Michael Chandler talks about Dana’s announcement that Khabib might come back to fight if he sees something great at UFC 257. I still don’t believe Dana, but Chandler does.
Over in Abu Dhabi, Dustin Poirier talks about the ups and downs of his career. Coach Mike Brown goes for a run with Poirier. He says they’re not in complete quarantine any more, but have to stay on the hotel grounds. Poirier is happy his wife is there, though she’s still in quarantine at that point.
Tuesday was Poirier’s birthday, and Reed Harris made him a carrot cake, even though he can’t eat it. He says beating Conor McGregor gets him to gold. Poirier says he took everything personally the first time around, but won’t this time. Everyone sings Happy Birthday to him. He greets Michael Chandler in the hallway, amicably. Then watches as his daughter sings Happy Birthday to him on his phone. Aww.
And that’s it! UFC 257 goes down this weekend in Abu Dhabi.
