Diego Sanchez says his final UFC fight will be against Donald Cerrone.
UFC Hall of Famer Diego Sanchez says his final fight in the octagon will be against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone but that a potential bout with Conor McGregor ‘will always be in the ether’.
Sanchez made the announcement on social media after labelling McGregor a ‘legend’ following the Irishman’s devastating TKO loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.
@TheNotoriousMMA I know your last fight was not your best showing, stand tall you are a legend & will continue to have more legendary success! It looks to be cowboy for my UFC finale. Sanchez versus McGregor will always be in the ether! HMU in the dm I might Have a bone for you.

“I know your last fight was not your best showing, stand tall you are a legend & will continue to have more legendary success! It looks to be cowboy for my UFC finale. Sanchez versus McGregor will always be in the ether! HMU in the dm I might Have a bone for you,” Sanchez wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
Sanchez made his UFC debut in 2005 when he beat Kenny Florian to win The Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale at the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 39-year-old has fought in the UFC for almost sixteen years and holds notable victories over the likes of Florian, Nick Diaz, Clay Guida, and Takanori Gomi. His three-round thriller with Guida at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale was voted 2009 Fight of the Year and both men were inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame for putting on one of the most entertaining and memorable fights in UFC history.
McGregor expressed interest in a fight with Sanchez in 2020 but UFC president Dana White didn’t like the idea of the matchup. There is no official word on Sanchez vs. Cerrone but expect a possible announcement in the coming days.
