Long-time Bellator fighter Derek Anderson delivered a BARBARIC knockout back in Nov. 2020 … let’s watch it again!

Bellator 251: “Manhoef vs. Anderson” took place Nov. 5, 2020, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The main event that night saw mixed martial arts (MMA) and kickboxing legend “No Mercy” Melvin Manhoef (32-14-1, 2 NC) face promotional newcomer and former UFC Light Heavyweight contender Corey Anderson (13-5).

There was also another Anderson on the CBS Sports Network broadcast that night. Long-time promotional veteran Derek Anderson (16-3, 1 NC) looked to extend his win streak to three in the Lightweight division against Killys Mota (12-1). Having scored a surprising finish of Mandel Nallo in his Bellator debut one year earlier, Mota seemed primed to break the “Barbaric” streak and make a name for himself in the promotion.

Four minutes and 27 seconds after the second round started though, Mota’s fight and night came to a sudden end as Anderson caught him with a perfectly-timed head kick. At first the commentators were unsure if it was a clean blow, but replay showed that Mota was not grounded when it landed. Mota’s inability to continue rendered Anderson the victor.
