Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Gina Carano has dealt with controversy in the past, but her recent Instagram story comparing the hardships endured by modern Republicans and Jewish Holocaust victims brought an especially large outcry against her. As a result, Carano lost her role as Cara Dune on Disney+’s wildly successful Star Wars show, The Mandalorian. There was rumor of a spinoff as well …

Well, things are already looking up for the women’s MMA pioneer. After blasting the “totalitarian mob” that canceled her, Carano has found a new home with Ben Shapiro and The Daily Wire, where she will work on producing her own film. In addition, Carano has seemingly found an unlikely ally in UFC President Dana White, as the two have feuded in the past over contract negotiations.

Naturally, White also found an opportunity to take a shot at ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, a different longtime foe of the promoter.

“Leave Gina alone,” White said (transcription via MMAJunkie). “Listen, we make mistakes. We all make mistakes. For everybody to go in on her – I love how Ariel Helwani made it all about him. It was all about him. Such a douche.”

Insomnia

This is dope.

A great fight, but it’s still a bummer that Colby Covington vs. Jorge Masvidal could not be worked out.

Amanda Nunes throws some weight around:

It cannot be easy to falter on the big stage.

Speaking of Leon Edwards, Nate Diaz really shouldn’t be in a position to roast him like this …

Is this the best Heavyweight boxer on the planet?

Some new Tony Ferguson vs. Conor McGregor trash talk from out of the blue:

Slips, rips, and KO clips

Slammed his way out of the guillotine/triangle combo … only to circle right back into the guillotine.

This is perhaps the most violent finish in an amateur women’s MMA fight that I’ve stumbled across. Holy beatdown!

Toes digging into the belly hurt quite a bit.

Random Land

Avalanches are no joke.

Midnight Music: I cannot remember why, but I’ve had the post-punk album Savior by Soft Kill saved to my Spotify library for ages and finally played it today. I liked it!

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
