Drakkar Klose is being re-booked against a different opponent.

Following a Covid scare involving a member of his team, Drakkar Klose is being re-booked for April – but against a different opponent.

Klose (11-2-1, 5-2 UFC) had originally been scheduled to fight Jai Herbert at last weekend’s UFC Vegas 19 card. Herbert fell out, so Luis Pena got the fight instead. But on the day of the event, a member of Klose’s team contracted the virus so the bout was scrapped.

Now, the UFC has decided to give him a much higher-profile fight, and he’ll meet Jeremy Stephens in a lightweight bout on April 17th.

Stephens (28-18, 1 NC, 15-17, 1 NC UFC) is badly in need of a win. He has dropped his last four official bouts in a row, with a quick No Contest crammed in between. He missed weight for his last bout and was stopped by Calvin Kattar’s elbows. Now he’ll compete in the lightweight division for the first time since 2012.

Despite his recent struggles, Stephens is still ranked at number eight at featherweight. Klose is currently unranked at lightweight.

The UFC’s April 17th event does not have a venue or a comfirmed main event as of yet.
