Get full results and fight coverage for the super-middleweight title fight main event between Canelo Alvarez and Avni Yildirim on DAZN.
It’s fight day!
From Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, reigning WBA and WBC super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez (54-1-2, 36 KOs) puts his titles on the line against mandatory challenger Avni Yildirim (21-2, 12 KOs). This is Canelo’s second fight since departing Golden Boy Promotions and his first of a two-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn. If Canelo wins and is relatively unscathed, a May 8th showdown with Billy Joe Saunders (30-0, 14 KOs) is on deck. If he loses, then this will go down as one of the biggest shocks in recent boxing history.
The undercard… yeah. It was supposed to have WBC flyweight champion Julio Cesar Martinez in the co-main against McWilliams Arroyo, but he injured his hand and instead we’ll get Arroyo versus Abraham Rodriguez for an interim title on a day’s notice. This is three times that Martinez has pulled out of an event close to fight night in the last six months and this one might sting the most as he’s fun to watch. Also on the card are the usual gaggle of prospect, including Alexis Espino, Diego Pacheco, and US amateur standout Keyshawn Davis’ professional debut.
Start Time
Don’t believe what DAZN tells you because usually their start times are way off, but let’s say that the main event will be at 10:30 PM ET-10:45 PM ET or thereabouts. It shouldn’t conflict with the UFC whatsoever. We’ll have round by round updates of the main event when it begins.
How to Watch
Pay-per-view on traditional cable/satellite is an option! The cost is $49.99 in the United States and you can turn that into a DAZN subscription through the end of April.
DAZN subscribers (except in Mexico) can watch the event at no additional cost. Check your region for your monthly or annual subscriptions.
