The greatest women’s mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter of all-time, Amanda Nunes, was back in action tonight (Sat., March 6, 2021), defending her Featherweight belt against perhaps the last viable contender on the roster, Megan Anderson, in the co-main event of UFC 259 inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a result, Anderson — who stands a monstrous 6’ tall — was the biggest betting underdog on the pay-per-view (PPV) card despite an impressive two-fight win streak and MMA resume.
Nunes, though, is just on another level. And she proved it once again, rocking Anderson with her second punch of the fight and eventually securing a seemingly effortless armbar win two minutes into the first round.
Nunes opened up the action with a low kick as Anderson put on some early pressure. She connected with a hard overhand right that certainly got the attention of Anderson. She landed another moments later and Anderson was hurt. She fell to the ground, wounded, looking to avoid the danger. Nunes followed her to the floor, eventually took her back and rolled for the armbar. Anderson had no defense — she was probably still shell-shocked. Nunes had her locked up tight and Anderson had no choice but to tap.
So, uh … yeah … who’s next?
