Well, that was … something.

UFC 259, featuring three championship title fights, gave MMA fans plenty to talk about once the smoke cleared last Sat. night (March 6) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jan Blachowicz retained his light heavyweight strap by outlasting current middleweight kingpin Israel Adesanya, not long after women’s featherweight titleholder Amanda Nunes steamrolled Megan Anderson in the UFC 259 co-main event.

The big controversy of the night belonged to former bantamweight champion Petr Yan, who coughed up his 135-pound crown with a disqualification loss to Aljamain Sterling. “No Mercy” threw a blatant illegal knee in a fight he was winning on the scorecards. Expect the promotion to book an immediate rematch at some point within the next few weeks.
