Where Does Leon Edwards’ eight-fight winning streak stand in UFC welterweight history?

Leon Edwards earned his eighth straight victory in July 2019 when he scored a unanimous decision win over Rafael dos Anjos. He has not fought since that contest. That changes on Saturday when he meets Belal Muhammad in the main event of UFC Vegas 21.

Edwards’ last four scheduled fights have been scratched because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Three of those cancellations have been bookings with Khamzat Chimaev, with the other against Tyron Woodley last March.

Had Muhammad not raised his hand to face Edwards on Saturday, Edwards might have been without an opponent once again after Chimaev pulled out of the contest because of lingering COVID-19 issues.

Muhammad is on a four-fight winning streak. All but one of those victories came while Edwards was on the sidelines. Muhammad’s most recent win was a February 13 decision victory over Dhiego Lima.

UFC Vegas 21 takes place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 13. The entire event streams on ESPN+.

Before Edwards and Muhammad meet, here is a look at where they appear in the UFC welterweight record book.
