Sam Alvey tells Leon Edwards to ‘gain some humility’ following his No Contest against Belal Muhammad at UFC Vegas 21.
Leon Edwards needs to learn some humility, according to UFC veteran Sam Alvey.
‘Smile’n’ Sam, who never actually smiles during his fights, put Edwards on blast for the way he conducted himself following the UFC Vegas 21 main event, which resulted in a No Contest after ‘Rocky’ struck ‘Remember the Name’ with a gruesome eye poke in the second round.
Sam feels Edwards calling for a title shot on the back of a No Contest is disrespectful towards his opponent and that the Brit needs to ‘gain some humility’.

“You won 1 round of a 5 round fight against a guy who had 3 weeks to prepare… and you poked him in the eye, twice, during your 7 min of action. And that’s after close to 2 years of not fighting. Gain some humility my man”, Alvey wrote in an Instagram comment directed at Edwards.
Edwards has apologized for the eye poke, but Muhammad feels the two need to settle their business in a rematch. Edwards, however, has his sights set on UFC gold and is eyeing a title shot against the winner of the upcoming rematch between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261.
The 29-year-old is on an eight-fight win streak and was beating Muhammad up until the foul in the second round. Edward is currently #3 in the UFC welterweight rankings while Muhammad, who took the fight on short notice, is ranked #13.
