Anderson Silva has an encouraging message for Chris Weidman, who suffered the same leg break injury at UFC 261.
In 2013, Anderson Silva suffered one of the worst leg injuries in the sport as he broke his shin bone from a leg kick on Chris Weidman. Eight years later at UFC 261, it was Weidman seen in agony from the same injury.
It happened in the first 17 seconds of the fight as Weidman threw a leg kick on opponent Uriah Hall. Weidman’s tibia landed on Hall’s knee, resulting in the break (graphic video here).
As the tables have now turned, Silva has an encouraging message for his fellow ex-champion.
My deepest and most sincere sentiments champ. Have faith, I wish you a speedy recovery. In this moment I wish you and your family light, love and knowledge.
To the fans of the sport, please respect this moment of this incredible warrior and let’s wish that he is 100% very recovered soon. May God bless you and your family @chrisweidman
Per reports and as confirmed by UFC president Dana White, Weidman will undergo surgery on Sunday.
