Could Gina Carano be getting an Emmy nomination for her work on The Mandalorian?

Lucasfilm, which is owned by Disney, sensationally canned MMA pioneer Gina Carano from the popular Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian in February. The reason given for her very public firing was her social media posts, which Lusasfilm described as “abhorrent and unacceptable.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic Carano’s social media presence grew increasingly controversial, with the fighter turned actor advocating against the use of masks and vaccines to stop the spread of the deadly coronavirus. Additionally, Carano used her social media to promote QAnon-related conspiracy theories.

The last straw for Disney appeared to be a post in which Carano compared being criticized for her opinions in modern day America to the Nazi’s genocide of Jewish people during the Second World War.

However, despite Disney and Lucasfilm going to lengths to express they would not work with Carano again, and that her The Mandalorian character Cara Dune was being removed from the franchise, it appears those studios would still like Carano to receive recognition for her work on the series.

CNET reports that Disney recently sent out a poster directed at the Emmy Awards nominations panel, which listed all the individuals they believe should be considered for an award this year.

In that poster, which CNET shares in its report, Carano’s name is listed along with her former co-stars Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito and Temuera Morrison under a title that states, “For your consideration.”

Carano’s is the only name listed under the ‘Supporting Actress’ sub-heading.

Since being fired from The Mandalorian it was reported that Disney shelved plans for Carano to appear in a number of spin-off series within the Star Wars universe.

Carano’s response to being removed from the Star Wars franchise was to sign a deal to make movies and shows with Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire. With The Daily Wire Carano is said to be developing her own Star Wars-like project.
