It seems like UFC president Dana White will grant Donald Cerrone’s wish to “bow out right.”
UFC veteran and fan-favorite Donald Cerrone has been winless in his last six fights. On Saturday at UFC Vegas 26, “Cowboy” lost another fight via first-round TKO at the hands of unranked welterweight Alex Morono.
But even with this recent string of disappointing losses, the 38-year-old competitor isn’t looking at retirement yet.
“No. Absolutely not. No way. I’ll never go out like this,” Cerrone told ESPN during a post-fight interview. “There’s no way I’d end like this. I couldn’t let my legacy end like this. So yeah, better call the boss and say, ‘Hey man. I know it’s been a rough couple of years but when it’s time, let me bow out right.”
UFC president Dana White was already planning to have the retirement conversation with Cerrone back in September. But after Cowboy agreed to remain in the card to fight a last-minute replacement, White is willing to return to favor and grant him another fight.
“So Cowboy, again, steps up,” White told TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter. “Diego falls out of the fight, he steps up and takes a last-minute replacement, co-main event.

“What he wants to do — he accepted the Diego fight because they said they would both fight at 170. He wants to move down to ’55 and get another fight, and I’mma let him do that.”
White also confirmed that it would be Cerrone’s last fight with the company should he come out unsuccessful.
Cerrone’s last victory happened in 2019 when he also won Fight of the Night honors against Al Iaquinta.
