Pending medical clearance for a broken collarbone, Darren Till will fight Derek Brunson on August 14th.
A fight between top middleweight contenders Darren Till and Derek Brunson is being targeted to headline a UFC Fight Night event on August 14th.
ESPN first reported the news on Thursday. The fight is subject to Till receiving medical clearance for a broken collarbone, the same injury that forced him out of a fight with Marvin Vettori last month.
Till (18-3-1) has suffered three defeats in his last four fights. Once a top contender at 170 pounds, Till overcame a tough challenge in Kevin Gastelum when he made his middleweight debut at UFC 244 in November 2019. The Liverpudlian lost a unanimous decision to Robert Whittaker in his last fight.
Brunson (22-7) is undefeated in his last four fights at 185 pounds. The UFC veteran has recently defeated prospects Kevin Holland and Edmen Shahbayzan in his last outings. Brunson, whose last loss came to former champion Israel Adesanya in 2018, won decisions against Ian Heinisch and Elias Theodorou before his most recent wins.
No other fights have yet been announced for the Fight Night card on August 14th.
