The UFC’s new lightweight king, Charles Oliveira, has opened up as a betting underdog in possible matchups with Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.

Charles Oliveira captured the UFC’s vacant lightweight belt this past Saturday at UFC 262 by knocking out Michael Chandler in the second round. On July 10th at UFC 264, there will be a likely title eliminator for “Do Bronx’s” new crown in the form of former champ-champ, Conor McGregor, in a trilogy bout with former interim champion, Dustin Poirier. Betting odds have surfaced for possible matchups involving Oliviera against “The Notorious,” as well as for one against “The Diamond.”

The odds had Oliveira winning the vacant strap, but they don’t have him holding onto it for very long. Online gambling site Sportsbetting.ag has the new 155-pound king opening up as a betting underdog to both McGregor and Poirier. The oddsmakers are also predicting that Poirier will be a tougher fight for Oliveira than McGregor will be.

First up, Oliveira has been labeled as a +145 underdog, while Conor’s opening betting line is sitting with a favored tick of -165. That means a successful $100 bet on Charles would see a total return of $245, with the same size winning wager on McGregor enjoying a payout of $160.61.

Next up, we have Charles sporting a slightly larger underdog line against Dustin. “Do Bronx” is clocking in as a +155 dog, with Poirier starting out as a -180 betting favorite. So, a $100 gamble on Oliveira could possibly bank you $255, while throwing a hundo on Poirier could put $155.66 in your pocket.

It should be noted that the website states that either of these potential matchups must take place in 2021 for action. With Poirier vs. McGregor 3 happening in July, there’s no telling how long each fighter might be sidelined after battle, so these odds may not even be valid by the time Dustin or Conor could actually have the opportunity to even face Oliveira.
