Tony Ferguson has shut down any plans of retirement after his UFC 262 loss to Beneil Dariush.
Tony Ferguson has no plans to retire after his UFC 262 loss to Beneil Dariush this past weekend.
In his last three UFC appearances, Ferguson has dropped fights to Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira and most recently Dariush. The former interim champion’s string of losses have raised doubts over his fighting future, with UFC president Dana White stating that time has “definitely got to” Ferguson.
Following up on a series of cryptic images he recently shared, ‘El Cucuy’ doubled down on his intentions to return to the Octagon.
“It ain’t over yet Mcgavin. The way I see it, we’ve only just begun. Retire and give these [motherf—kers] a break?” Ferguson wrote. “No, I don’t think so, not on my watch. Now I’m pissed. Thank you hardcore for picking me up when I was down crew.”
Ferguson was not awarded a round by any judge in his decision losses to Oliveira and Dariush, being dominated in both fights on the ground. Dariush revealed Ferguson’s knee popped loudly during a heel hook, but the former interim champ refused to tap.
The updated UFC lightweight rankings have seen Ferguson drop to #6 with Dairush climbing to #3 after his win.
