The Valerie Loureda hype train came to a screeching halt earlier tonight (Fri., May 21, 2021) after Hanna Guy took it to “Master” for 15 minutes, walking away with a unanimous decision victory.
Early in the fight, Loureda seemed to be in full control, dropping Guy with a nasty left hook. But after going in for a few strikes, she inexplicably let her back up. After a while it was obvious why because once Guy was able to grab a hold of her and take her down, her submission skills were unleashed.
Indeed, Guy locked in several armbar attempts, though Loureda proved to be tough as nails, working her way out of danger on numerous occasions. In round two, Guy nearly scored a finish after trapping “Master” in a triangle and then unleashing some nasty ground-and-pound.

During the break, Loureda’s corner was livid with her constant spinning backfist attempts and advised her to quit the fancy stuff and stick to basics. In round three, though, “Master” went against her corner’s advice and attempted an unwarranted spinning back kick, which allowed Guy to blitz her, grab a hold of her an take her down to steal the round, as well as the victory in her Bellator debut.
Guy topped off her win by slightly mocking Loureda with her signature victory dance.
