Joshua Fabia has been telling a lot of stories lately, and now we have one we can compare to previous news reports. Unsurprisingly, the stories don’t line up.
The strange story of UFC legend Diego Sanchez and his now ex-guru and manager Joshua Fabia is a strange and convoluted one and honestly full of bad vibes. With Diego having severed all connections with Fabia we can only hope the ‘School of Self Awareness’ teacher disappears from the MMA radar sooner rather than later … but we’re probably a few weeks off. At least until Fabia’s done this latest media tour in an attempt to frame himself as the victim in everything.
Earlier remarks from Fabia we shared featured him talking trash about Sanchez and as usual involved claims that he had recorded conversations and evidence to back up his claims. Hey, we don’t need more evidence to see you’re being shitty to Diego, man.
Now let’s take a look at another story he told Behind The Scene with Summer Helene where he tries to implicate the Nevada State Athletic Commission in the conspiracy he claims existed in the MMA world to destroy Sanchez (and by proxy, Fabia).
The NSAC, Fabia claims, told Sanchez to throw his fight against Michael Chiesa. And it’s funny, because you can read what he said and then we can remind you of what really happened and we can all have a laugh until it once again sinks in that this guy really jacked up the end of Diego Sanchez’s career.
“So, this moment happens where the Nevada State Athletic Commission comes in and leans on Diego, and he has to throw a f*cking fight,” Fabia said. “Now, I have them recorded. You go watch the fight, and it’s the only fight in Diego Sanchez’s history that he never threw a punch.”
“The way that they did it, is in the lean, which is in talking to somebody and dangling their license and explaining, ‘Are you really trying to hurt this man? You’re not trying to hurt him, are you Diego? You’re a sportsman, Diego. You’ve always been a good guy, Diego. You’re not gonna do anything with malicious intent, are you Diego?’”
Well done to @SummerHelene for challenging Joshua Fabia about his perspective on Diego Sanchez and the UFC…still incredible to hear his absurdities none the less. pic.twitter.com/sqP9QyPBfp

“You can call that the way you call it, but the Nevada State Commission is not supposed to come in 30 minutes before a f—king fight, and come and kick everybody out, and come and talk that type of shit to a fighter and get in their head.”
Now what we think actually happened, based on news we reported at the time, was that Fabia told the NSAC that they had developed a FREAKIN’ DEATH STRIKE that was going to kill Michael Chiesa dead. The NSAC, slightly perturbed, asked them to show off this DEATH STRIKE, and Fabia and Sanchez showed off what was basically a ‘Stone Cold Stunner,’ where you get someone’s head in a standing guillotine and then backflop their skull into the canvas.
Spiking rules in MMA are poorly written and defined and there’s still questions about whether a Stone Cold Stunner would technically be illegal or not, but the spirit of the rule is that you shouldn’t be trying to drop your opponent on their neck with their or your added body weight. So if you’re wondering why the NSAC was grilling Diego on whether he might be planning on paralyzing Michael Chiesa, there you go.
